THE SERIES: This is the first meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays. The teams met eight times last year with the Bulls barely taking the season series 4-3-1. Anton Martinsson won all four of the starts in goal. Forward Ryan Cusin notched a goal and seven assists for eight points versus the Bulls. This year the clubs will go at it a total of 12 times including four games over the next three weeks.

SHOWCASE REWIND: It wasn't a terrific North American Hockey League Showcase for either the Amarillo Bulls or the Corpus Christi IceRays. The teams combined for a record of 1-7-1 in eight games with the IceRays posting the lone win over Scranton-Wilkes Bare. Three of the losses by the Bulls were by two goals or less.

ROSTER DEADLINE: The Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays were busy before the deadline by the NAHL to reduce rosters. The Bulls acquired defenseman Jake Houston from the Johnstown Tomahawks during the Showcase last week. Amarillo also picked up defenseman Keenan Sabatini from the Janesville Jets and forward Nicholas Bohatiuk from the Bismark Bobcats. The IceRays made a deal with the Aston Rebels to get forward Guy Roby who spent part of last season in Rio Grande Valley.

ACROSS THE SOUTH: It is a light weekend of action in the South Division. The Topeka RoadRunners host the Lone Star Brahmas in a rematch of last year's Division Championship Series. The other match-up takes place on Saturday where the Odessa Jackalopes visit the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
