Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced today (Monday) their 2011-2012 schedule.
This year's schedule consists of 60 contests including four at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota as well as 28 home and 28 away games. One of the many highlights of the schedule is the Bulls home opener set for Saturday, October 1st at 7 pm against the New Mexico Mustangs at The Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
"Overall, we are very pleased with the schedule this upcoming season," said General Manager Chris Laurie. "We have a difficult stretch of road games in November, but beyond that, our home schedule is a significant improvement over last season and will be far more accommodating to sports fans in Amarillo."
The Amarillo Bulls and the Topeka RoadRunners developed one of the best rivalries in the NAHL last season that cumulated with the Bulls capturing the South Division title. The two teams will renew that match-up on Friday, October 14 in Amarillo and then in November in Topeka, Kansas.
The Bulls will face a total of 11 different opponents including five new ones. One of the many new faces on the schedule is the Odessa Jackalopes which join the South Division this fall. Other new faces are the Jamestown Steel, Alaska Avalanche, Bismarck Bobcats and the Janesville Jets, who the Bulls will play at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota.
The Amarillo Bulls and the Fresno Monsters will play each other a total of three times this season. The Bulls will mark Amarillo hockey's first ever trip to California to face the Monsters in early December. The Monsters make a return visit to Amarillo in late January. There is also the return of New Years Eve hockey to the Texas Panhandle as the Bulls host the New Mexico Mustangs to close out 2011.
"We have 28 home games this season, 24 fall on a Friday or Saturday, 2 on a Sunday and 2 on a Wednesday," Laurie said. "We were also able to secure some key promotional home dates such as the return of the New Years Eve game, a Halloween game and a St. Patty's Day game. Fans can look forward to continuously growing crowds and a high energy experience!"
Twenty four of the Bulls 28 eight home games are played either on Friday or Saturday. There will be two home games each on Wednesday and Sunday. The Bulls will face the New Mexico Mustangs the most of any club, a total of 12 times; the Odessa Jackalopes are next with nine; followed by Topeka RoadRunners, Texas Tornado, Wichita Falls Wildcats and Corpus Christi IceRays eight times apiece.
Full and Half Season Ticket Packages as well as Seven Game Flex Packs are currently available for the 2011-2012 season. The prices are the lowest they have been in decades.
