September 19, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release

BLAINE, MN - The Amarillo Bulls and 23 other North American Hockey League teams have arrived in Blaine, Minnesota (northwest of Minneapolis) for the 19th NAHL Showcase at the Schwann Super Rink.

The action gets underway tomorrow (Wednesday) morning and continues through Saturday, and the Amarillo Bulls have the primetime slot facing the Brookings Blizzard at 8 pm in their first game. The two teams have met once previously at the Showcase and it took place two years ago with the Bulls winning in a shootout.

Moe Mantha is the Head Coach of the Blizzard, who faced the Bulls nine years ago in their first NAHL game at the Showcase when he was behind the bench of the Michigan Warriors. John Rey scored the game winner as the Bulls beat the Warriors for Amarillo's first NAHL win. Rocky Russo's charges are coming off a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Lone Star Brahmas on Saturday night in their home opener at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. This will be Brookings' first game of the season. The two teams do have something in common in that they each had 23 victories last season but failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Bulls have had great success in first games at the Showcase posting six wins in eight previous games. As a franchise at the Showcase, Amarillo has collected 15 victories.

Fans can tune into the action live on 107.1 Nash Icon, www.amarillobulls.com and on Pay-Per- View with Hockey TV beginning with the Fit Omni Warm-Up Show at 7:35 pm. The puck drop follows with Denis J. Puska calling all of the action in his 9th year with the Bulls and 13th in the Texas Panhandle.
