AMARILLO, TX - One Amarillo Bulls' Alumni stayed red hot, while two others earned key assists for their respective teams in NCAA hockey action over the weekend.
Greg Gibson scored the game's first goal as Robert Morris earned a split with the University of Connecticut, winning 4-3 on Saturday night. It's the third week in a row that Gibson has earned at least one point. Gibson now has picked up three goals and two assists for five points.
Meantime, Forward John Gustafsson notched two assists for Merrimack College in their two games. Gustafsson had an assist on the only goal on Friday night as Merrimack College dropped a 4-1 decision to Boston University. Merrimack College rebounded the next night with a 6-0 victory over the Maine Black Bears. Gustafsson added an assist in on the fourth Merrimack goal. Gustafsson has a goal and three assists for four points this season.
Defenseman Brandon Lubin earned an assist on the lone goal for American International in a 3-1 loss to Niagara. It was American's second loss to Niagara in the two games played. It was Lubin's fifth assist on the season.
In NCAA action this weekend Gibson and Robert Morris takes on Brandon Lubin and American International.
In Division III play, forward Mike Erickson had an assist for Williams College as they beat Skidmore 6-2. Goaltender Mike Taffe shared the duties for Utica College as they dropped a 5-0 decision to Courtland.
The Amarillo Bulls are back on home ice this weekend for pair of games at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center against the Corpus Christi IceRays. Face off for both games on Friday and Saturday is set for 7 pm. Tickets are available at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets, including United Supermarkets.
