Amado and Henthorne named to Post Season All-Star Team

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. September 24, 2004 – The Bridgeport Bluefish announced today that two Bluefish players, Jose Amado and Kevin Henthorne, have been selected as part of the 2004 Atlantic League Post Season All-Star Team. Amado was named as the designated hitter, while Henthorne was named the right-handed pitcher. Henthorne was also chosen as the Most Valuable Pitcher 2004.

Kevin Henthorne was the first pitcher in the Atlantic League to earn six wins, and ended the season with a league leading 12-3 record. During the 2004 season, he compiled a 2.69 ERA in 150.1 innings pitched. Henthorne faced a total of 599 batters, striking out 100 and walking 19.

Jose Amado finished third in the league with a .339 batting average and third with 93 RBIs. He was also fifth in the league with a .417 on base percentage. He appeared in 114 games for the ‘Fish, which included the role of designated hitter, first baseman and third baseman. In 437 plate appearances, Amado tallied 148 hits and 13 homeruns.

The Bridgeport Bluefish concluded the 2004 season last week with the second best overall record of 72-54, going 38-25 in the first half and 34-29 in the second half. Collectively, the pitching staff was second in the league in ERA (3.95), second in saves (38), second in strikeouts (837), and the second lowest in amount of walks allowed (371). Offensively, the ‘Fish were fifth in the league in batting average (.279) and fourth in hits (1221).
