
Alyssa Thomas Named to WNBA All-Defensive First Team

Uncasville, CT - Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas was named to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team, the league announced today. This marks the second time Thomas has received First Team honors in her ten-year WNBA career (2020). She has also picked up three WNBA All-Defensive Second Team nods (2017, 2019, 2022).
Thomas is known for her defensive versatility, guarding both the guard and post positions through her WNBA career. The four-time WNBA All-Star finished first in the league in rebounding (9.9) and third in steals (1.8) during the 2023 regular season. Thomas is enjoying an MVP-caliber season, having been named a WNBA All-Star, WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month (June), WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week (3x) and AP Player of the Week (3x) throughout 2023. Additionally, this season Thomas became the WNBA's all-time leader in regular season triple-doubles (8). She recorded six triple-doubles in 2023, also becoming the first player to tally more than two triple-doubles in a single regular season in league history.
Thomas and the Connecticut Sun are back in action on Sunday, September 24 at 1:00 PM ET when they take on the New York Liberty in Game 1 of the WNBA Semifinals at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
