Alumni Update: Austin Inks with Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY -After a hard hitting five year OHL career,Brady Austin's hard work has paid off in the form of an NHL contract. The bruising Bobcaygeon blueliner signed an entry level deal with the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, three days before Sunday's deadline for teams to retain their 2012 draft selections via contract.

Playing in parts of three seasons with the Bulls, Austin's physical brand made him an instant favourite among Belleville fans. The former seventh round pick of the Sabres just wrapped up a Memorial Cup appearance with the London Knights, having overcome mononucleosis and the passing of his father Steve.

In 67 regular season gamesbetween Belleville and London this season, Austin recorded 9 goals and 24 assists for 33 points. He had 42 penalty minutes and an impressive +51 rating.

A former second round pick by the Erie Otters back in 2009, Austin played in 322 career OHL games, scoring 29 goals to go with 81 assists and a +81 rating. He was dealt twice in his career, the first time to Belleville in exchange for goaltenderTyson Teichmann on August 2nd, 2011 and again to the London Knights forRemi Elie on October 9th, 2013.

In one of the more memorable goals in recent Bulls history, Austin lifted Belleville to a 4-3 overtime win over the Ottawa 67's in game four of the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal.
