Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, December 11, 2014 - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday that the club has signed national receiver Eric Deslauriers to a three-year contract extension.
Deslauriers (6'04'', 206 lbs.) amassed 153 receiving yards on 17 catches in only 12 contests in 2014. The former Eastern Michigan University Eagle saved his best performance of the season for the Eastern Final against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he notched five passes for gains of 40 yards. In seven career playoff games, the Gatineau, Qc native accumulated 185 yards and tallied a touchdown on 11 catches.
"Eric is a great team player. He has sacrificed and played the role he has been asked throughout his career", declared Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp. "He is also the energizer of our team. Very few players have the ability to get the attention of their teammates and get them to raise their level as Eric has."
The two-time Grey Cup champion in 2009 and 2010 played 108 regular season games over his eight-year CFL career, catching 99 passes good for 1,334 yards, while scoring three touchdowns. He was the Alouettes' first-round (7th overall) draft-pick at the CFL Canadian Draft in 2006. He also suited up for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the team's mini-camp in 2007.
The Alouettes also announced the signing of international receiver Brandan Green to a two-year contract.
Green (6'00'', 195 lbs.), who is 23 years-old, returns to the Alouettes after taking part in the team's training camp earlier this year. The former Grand Valley State University Laker played the team's second pre-season contest against the Ottawa REDBLACKS on June 20 where he caught three passes for 21 yards. During his senior year with the Lakers, he hauled in 53 passes for 1,210 yards and six touchdowns averaging almost 80 yards per game. He also rushed for 267 yards and three touchdowns on 24 rush attempts.
"Brandan made a great impression on our scouting and coaching staff as well as his teammates last season. Though he didn't make the team due to our depth, our intention was to bring him back and give him another shot," said Popp.
