Montreal, October 16, 2014 - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday that the team has released international quarterback Troy Smith.
Smith (6'0'', 195 lbs.) joined the Alouettes on August 14, 2013 and started the last three regular season games as well as the East Division Semifinal, which the Alouettes lost in overtime. He was the Alouettes starter for the first six games of the 2014 season, before being placed on the six-game injured list.
During his time in Montreal, the former Heisman Trophy winner completed 143 of his 288 passes, gaining 1,873 passing yards, while throwing 13 touchdown passes and nine interceptions. He also rushed the ball 23 times good for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
