Alley Cats' Shaun Fountain Named CBA Player of the Week

Anderson, IN (January 9, 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association announced yesterday that Indiana Alley Cats guard Shaun Fountain has been named the CBA Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 2nd through Jan. 7th. He became the first member of the Alley Cats to win the award.

Fountain had an amazing week. He ended up with averages of 31.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2 steals while leading the Alley Cats to a 3-0 record for the week. The three wins vaulted Indiana into second place in the American Conference. Shaun scored 34 points on Jan. 2nd at Minot and 27 points on January 4th at Pittsburgh, before dropping 34 points on Minot again at home on January 7th.

On the season, Fountain is second in the CBA in scoring (23.3 ppg), third in assists (6.2 apg), and second in steals (3 spg). He has recorded a league-best 8 steals in a game twice this season.

Other players receiving consideration based on the submission of each team were Albany's TJ Thompson, Butte's Nick VanderLaan, Great Falls' Jamar Howard, Minot's Ray Cunningham, Pittsburgh's Kevin Pittsnogle, Utah's John Millsap, and Yakama's Galen Young.

The Alley Cats are on the road for a 2 game set against the Albany Patroons beginning tonight. The same two teams will also square off on Thursday night.
