Alley Cats Lose a Nail-Biter to the Skyrockets

Minot, ND (February 2, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats weren't able to hold a halftime lead and fell to the Minot Skyrockets tonight by a score of 94-91. After David Harrison made one of two free throws to put the Skyrockets up by three, Shaun Fountain missed a potential game tying three-pointer at the buzzer. Indiana picked up two quarter points in the loss, but fell to third place in the division behind Minot. Indiana's record on the season is now 16-12.

Minot got off to a quick start and won the first quarter 27-21. The Alley Cats relied on a strong performance from J.J. Sullinger to take a four point lead, 53-49, into the half. Sullinger had an outstanding half with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Ray Cunningham led Minot with 14 points and 9 rebounds. The Alley Cats came out flat in the second half and lost the third quarter by ten. They were able to win the fourth quarter, but couldn't come all the way back to claim the victory.

Sullinger was the star tonight for the Alley Cats, finishing with a game-high 33 points and 13 rebounds. Erick Barkley tallied 16 points and Carl Edwards added 11 points, while Shaun Fountain finished with 10. Chris Garnett had a respectable game with 9 points and 7 rebounds.

The Skyrockets received great production from their bench, which outscored Indiana's 49-19. Ronnie Fields led this charge with 23 points, while Jason Smith had 11. Cunningham had a great game from start to finish (15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds). Minot also dominated the glass, out-rebounding Indiana 57-44.

The same two teams will square off tomorrow night at 8:05 EST. The game will determine who is in sole possession of second place by the end of the night.
