ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans crushed the defending CHL champion Texas Brahmas 5-1 tonight in the two clubs' first meeting at the Allen Event Center. The win marks the first victory at the new building. The Americans are now 6-2-1 with 13 points (tied for fourth in the league) and have tied the teams' series at 1-1.

Allen dominated from the beginning and scored two goals before Texas responded. Defenseman Jason Seerey had the first goal seven minutes into the game, and forward Tobias Whelan scored three minutes later to make the score 2-0.

The team continued to stay aggressive in the second, but Texas' Jason Reese scored an unassisted goal at the three-minute mark. Allen answered when defenseman Britt Dougherty shoved a shot in that Brahma goalie Brett Jaeger only got a piece of to bring the score to 3-1. Then, Whelan snuck one between Jaeger's pad and the post to push the Americans' lead to three. After Whelan's second goal of the night, Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong pulled Jaeger and replaced him with Joe Palmer.

At the seven-minute mark of the third, forward Liam Huculak buried the puck off a pass from Bruce Graham on the power play to score the last Americans' goal of the night. The final score was 5-1.

Goaltender Chris Whitley made 16 saves tonight and is now 3-0-1.

The Stanley Cup was also in attendance tonight and created quite a stir. Fans lined up to get their picture taken with hockey's most treasured trophy. The Americans also held a live auction after the game. All proceeds raised will benefit the Men and Women of the Texas National Guard of Collin County and The Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation.

Americans' owners Doug Miller and Steve Duchesne, oil guru T. Boone Pickens and Boston's Gourmet Pizza CEO Jim Treliving agreed to match the amount raised. The Americans will announce the total amount that will be donated in the following week.
