Allen Americans Take Over Top Spot on Sher-Wood CHL Power Rankings

GLENDALE, AZ (January 31, 2014) - After five straight polls as the top team, the Rapid City Rush (27-11-0) has slipped in the latest CHL Sher-Wood Power Rankings (Coaches Poll) falling behind the red-hot Allen Americans (25-10-4). The Rush had been the #1 team since mid-November.

The poll is released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn 9 points, etc. Teams are not permitted to vote for themselves.

Allen has gone more than a month without losing a game in regulation posting an 11-0-2 mark over their last 13 games. The Americans are currently tied with Rapid City for first place in the conference at 54 points. After starting the season with a league record 20 wins in their first 23 game, the Rush have come back to the pack going 7-8-0 over their last 15 contests.

The #3 through #5 teams remains the same as the last rankings with Missouri sitting in third place, Quad City in fourth and Denver in fifth.

Two other teams joined Allen in moving up one spot, the Arizona Sundogs and the Brampton Beast. The Sundogs were rewarded on one ballot for their recent strong play by being voted #1. Arizona is 8-0-2 in their last 10 games. Other than Arizona, Allen (6 votes) and Rapid City (3 votes) received first place votes.
