All-Star Bramasco A Big Hit With International Beisbol

Harlingen, TX - The Harlingen WhiteWings announced today that SS Omar Bramasco will remain on Inactive List indefinitely. Bramasco spent the winter months playing with the Chileros de Xalapa of the Liga de Veracruz in Veracruz Mexico. He has earned himself a spot in the Pacific Coast League of Mexico (Triple A) due to his outstanding performance in the Winter League. Among the offensive totals, his 13 Home Runs and 41 Runs Batted In not only placed him in the top ten in the Liga de Veracruz but helped the Chileros de Xalapa win the league championship.

Originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 16th round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, the two-time United League All-Star Shortstop batted .294 and hit 11 Home Runs while driving in 53 runs as a member the WhiteWings. Bramasco will play the 2008 season in Mexico but the WhiteWings will maintain revisionary rights to his contract should he return to the United States to play baseball.

"Omar (Bramasco) has been the best shortstop in the United League the last two years, in my opinion," said WhiteWings General Manager Dave Kost. "Unequivocally we will miss his leadership both on the field and in the clubhouse," added Kost. "Our Manager, Al Gallagher, has been working very diligently to shore up the hole left behind and I'm confident he will do exactly that."

In unrelated transactions, the WhiteWings announced today the Voluntary Retirement of INF Chad Sosbee and the Unconditional Release of P Angel Cordero and C Danilo Reynoso. Sosbee was acquired on November 2, 2007 from the St. Joe (Missouri) BlackSnakes of the American Association. "Chad (Sosbee) played for me in St. Joe last year and he is an outstanding person with a big heart for the game," said WhiteWings' Manager Al Gallagher. "But I certainly understand his desires to spend time with his family and move on with what life has in store for them."
