Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Charleston, WV: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost game one of a three game series to the West Virginia Power 6-4 on Tuesday night. This ends the GreenJackets eight game winning streak.
The GreenJackets were in control for most of the game as John Gavin continued his dominance this season. He went six scoreless innings, only giving up one run and striking out nine. He lowered his ERA to 1.05 after the performance.
Once Gavin left the mound, the Power started hitting against the GreenJackets bullpen. The Power put up six runs over the final three innings. The last blow to the GreenJackets came off the bat of Ryan Peurifoy as he hit a two-run walk off home run.
At the plate, the GreenJackets continued to hit the long ball. John Riley hit one to deep to left field for a two-run home run in the second inning. Orlando Garcia also hit a solo home run in the eighth for the GreenJackets.
The GreenJackets will be back in action tomorrow night at 7:05 pm for game two of the series against the West Virginia Power.
Starting May 9th, the GreenJackets will be back home for a homestand against the Rome Braves. Wednesday night will be Big Beers, Brats, and BBQ night presented by Maurice's Piggy Park. The next night, we will have Thirsty Thursday presented by Scene Nightclub and Tribute to Nurses where we honor medical professionals all around the CSRA. Finally on Friday, we will have Dr. Rogers and Andrews Orthodontics patients celebration night at SRP Park. The game will also be Ladies Night, followed by kids running the bases presented by Moe's Southwest Grill at the conclusion of the game.
