Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth and the National Lacrosse League have announced that forward Alex Gajic has been named the league's Week #8 Rookie of the Week for his three-goal, one-assist performance on Saturday against the Minnesota Swarm. This marks the first time Gajic has received the award.

"The expectations have been set high, and for the most part [Alex] delivers," said Mammoth President, General Manager and Head Coach Steve Govett.

Gajic, 22, was the fifth-overall pick in the 2009 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft and joins his brother, Ilija, as Rookie of the Week award recipients this season. Ilija received the award following the second week of the season.

"We always hope the best for each other, so it was good we both had big games last week and produced a couple of points to help the team out," said Alex.

Nenad Gajic, the eldest of the three Gajic brothers to play for the Mammoth, earned NLL Rookie of the Month and All-Rookie Team honors during his first season in the league in 2007.

Alex is currently fourth in rookie scoring in the league with 20 points (10g, 10a), while Ilija sits in third with 24 points (15g, 9a).

Colorado's next home game is Saturday, March 13 at Pepsi Center when the Mammoth hosts the Edmonton Rush for a 7pm contest.
