Alex Berry Assigned To Reading

Reading Royals News Release


Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Alex Berry has been assigned from the Marlies to the Royals. In separate transactions, the Royals also (i) activated defenseman Rob LaLonde from the 21-Day Injured Reserve; and (ii) released forward Kyle Laughlin. In a separate transaction previously completed, defenseman Joey Ryan was recalled from Reading to the Marlies.

Berry (6'3/220) (24), a first year pro from Danvers, Massachusetts, was previously assigned to the Royals on March 4, 2010, and picked up an assist in his lone game with the team, a 6-3 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings that night. In fifty games with the Marlies this season, Berry has registered seven points (3g-4a) and ninety-three penalty minutes. LaLonde, a fourth year pro from Williamsville, New York, who last played for Reading on January 27, 2010 and has missed nineteen consecutive games, has picked up ten points (3g-7a) and 105 penalty minutes in twenty-seven games for Reading this year. Laughlin, a first year pro from Gambrills, Maryland, played twenty games with Reading and registered two points (1g-1a) and two penalty minutes. Ryan, a second year pro from Stoneham, Massachusetts, has had four stints with Reading during which he has picked up eight points (2g-6a) and forty-three penalty minutes in thirty total games.

The Royals return to action tonight (Thursday, March 18, 2010 @ 7:05 pm) when the Charlotte Checkers visit the Sovereign Center for the final time this year-at least during the regular season. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will begin at 6:35 pm.
