Alaska Wild Head Coach Hans Deemer Resigns
January 21, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Alaska Wild News Release
With the recent merger into the Indoor Football League and new additions to the roster, the Alaska Wild has seen the direction of the franchise headed into a very positive direction. This past week, the Alaska Wild took a step back as head coach Hans Deemer resigned due to personal reasons. The Alaska Wild is deeply saddened by the departure of Deemer, whom the Wild regard as the "first true head coach". With the tools in place to lead the Wild to victory 2009, it was a surprising and disappointing announcement to team officials. Deemer lead the Wild to the first ever professional football victory in Alaska in 2007 and lead the Wild to a first ever playoff spot in 2008.
Deemer was an integral part for the Wild in many aspects of the community. Deemer's ambassadorship with the Wild was especially prevalent at Special Olympics events. The Alaska Wild will begin an extensive search for a new head coach before the beginning of training camp in early March.
