Alabama Vipers News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alabama Vipers have been assigned six more players by Arena Football One and all have either NFL or CFL experience.

Defensive lineman Vince Redd, returning defensive back Lionel Singleton, linebacker Remond Willis, wide receivers Travis Shelton and Maurice Dupree, and offensive lineman Albert Stinson round out the group.

"These are six quality players with extensive football backgrounds at the highest levels,'' Vipers coach Dean Cokinos said. "They will help make the Vipers a much more explosive team at multiple positions. I am excited about these additions and looking forward to working with each one of these guys."

Redd (6-foot-6, 260 pounds) played five of the final six games for the New England Patriots in 2008. The former Liberty standout was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this season and later was added to the Calgary Stampeders roster.

Singleton was an All-Sun Belt performer at Florida International, Willis (6-1, 248) played for Calgary in the CFL last season after receiving All-OVC honors at Tennessee State and Shelton (5-11, 185) - the cousin of Bears star Devin Hester - signed as a free agent with the Broncos and was an All-American in 2006 and '08 at Temple where he led the nation in kickoff return yards as a senior.

Dupree (5-10, 177) was an All-OVC selection at Jacksonville State and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this year, while Stinson was second team All-SWAC at Jackson State before spending time with the Minnesota Vikings in 2006 and the AFL's Dallas Desperados in '08.
