AirHogs to Kick off Home Schedule with "Championship Week"
May 15, 2012 - American Association (AA)
Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- While the Grand Prairie AirHogs will officially open their title defense on Thursday in Laredo, when they come home after the four-game series against the Lemurs the party will really start at QuikTrip Park. The AirHogs have a spectacular week of promotions planned for their first homestand, from May 21-26 against El Paso and Kansas City.
It all kicks off on Monday, May 21, as the AirHogs welcome in the Diablos for three games. The American Association champions will receive their 2011 championship rings in a pregame ceremony, and last year's ace pitcher Jason Jennings will return and throw out the first pitch as part of the ceremony, which is sponsored by Balfour (the designer and manufacturer of the AirHogs' rings) and the Grand Prairie Parks & Recreation Department.
Also that night, fans can buy raffle tickets for just $10 to get a chance to win a personalized championship ring - the same that will be given to the AirHogs players and staff. All proceeds from the raffle will go to the AirHogs' official charity, the David Nicklas Organ Donor Awareness Foundation. You must be present to win.
The next two games are both at 10:35 am to give the youth of Grand Prairie a chance to play a little hooky, with Grand Prairie ISD Education Days, presented by Grand Bank of Texas. On Wednesday, the kids will get an even more special treat, as members of the Lone Star Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club will parade their cars around the outfield and show them off in the parking lot before and after the game.
Grand Prairie will then welcome in the Kansas City T-Bones to QuikTrip Park for the first time, with a three-game set beginning Thursday, May 24. It is the first "Thirsty Thursday" of the year, featuring $2 beers. It is also Graff Chevrolet Grand Prairie ISD End of School Bash and a championship-commemorating Shirts off our Backs Night, with a chance to win (for free) the shirts the AirHogs will be wearing that night.
Friday's game features the first "QuikTrip Night" of the year, with free tickets available at area QuikTrip locations. Also, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a championship cap, sponsored by Parkland Community Health Plan.
If you did not win one of the shirts on Thursday, there's another chance on Saturday night, with Miller Lite Jerseys off our Backs Night, again for free. And of course, the homestand will conclude with a QuikTrip Park tradition, Fireworks Saturday Night, featuring a great postgame pyrotechnics display.
Tickets are still available for all six games but they are going fast. Visit www.airhogsbaseball.com or call 972-504-9383 to get your tickets now!
