LOOKING AHEAD:

Two of the top teams in the Western Conference meet at Van Andel Arena on Wednesday as Grand Rapids hosts Rochester (7:00 ET). The Griffins are unbeaten in seven since a 7-0 drubbing by Milwaukee on Jan. 3, while the once-anemic Amerks have scored at least four goals in eight of their last 11 games, going 7-3-1-0 since Christmas. Reigning Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week Milan Bartovic has 10-game point streak and a goal in five straight for the Amerks. The game is a homecoming of sorts for Rochester goaltender and East Lansing native Ryan Miller, a former Hobey Baker Award winner at Michigan State and cousin of Griffins winger Kevin Miller.

After a heated home-and-home between their parent clubs to start the week, Providence and Hartford butt heads on Wednesday (7:05 ET) in Connecticut. The Wolf Pack are unbeaten in eight; the Bruins haven't lost in five, and trail the division-leading Pack by seven points in the Atlantic. Hartford is 4-1-1 against the B's this season, with Layne Ulmer leading the way with six goals. Providence's Andy Hilbert scored his first goal of the season in Monday's 3-1 win vs. Binghamton; the AHL All-Star in 2002 and 2003 had missed 38 games with a groin injury.

Springfield visits Hershey on Wednesday (7:30 ET) in the 440th regular-season meeting between the cities, which have combined for 127 seasons of play in the AHL. The rivalry also includes head-to-head meetings between the Bears and Springfield Indians in the 1958 and 1961 Calder Cup Finals, and a memorable seven-game conference final between the Bears and Falcons in 1997. Former Falcon Shane Willis has five points in four games since returning to the Bears from Tampa Bay last week.
