Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League will be featured as part of a 10-game Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) series called "AHL on CBC" during the 2010-11 season, the American Hockey League office announced today.

All 10 games in the AHL on CBC series will feature AHL teams affiliated with one of the six Canadian NHL teams. The Barons, the primary developmental affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, will be showcased October 24 when they travel to Ontario to play the Hamilton Bulldogs, top affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m. (EDT). Other teams participating are the Abbotsford Heat (Calgary Flames), Manitoba Moose (Vancouver Canucks), Toronto Marlies (Toronto Maple Leafs) and Binghamton Senators (Ottawa Senators).

CBC's Hockey Night in Canada Saturday broadcasts will be followed by an AHL on CBC game on 10 Sunday afternoons, giving fans across Canada a chance to cheer on the NHL stars of tomorrow. All games will also be available live and on-demand on CBCSports.ca.

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 85 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the ninth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America.
