Agostino Departs Wolves for NHL

GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves announced Saturday that left wing Kenny Agostino has been recalled from loan by the St. Louis Blues under emergency conditions.
The 24-year-old has appeared in 63 games for Chicago this season and leads the American Hockey League in both scoring (79) and assists (57). He owns a 17-point lead on the league's second-best scorer and has churned out 20 multi-point performances this season.
Agostino is having a breakout year, surpassing his previous personal-bests in points (57) and assists (34). He's also one shy of tying his career-high in goals (23).
For the Wolves, Agostino is one of just four players since the 2007-08 season to surpass the 70-point benchmark. He joins Darren Haydar (74, 2010-11), Jason Krog (75, 2009-10; 2010-11) and current teammate Brett Sterling (71, 2007-08). The New Jersey native is also a point shy of hitting the 80-point plateau. If he does, he would be the first Chicago skater since Krog during the 2007-08 season - with 112 points - to accomplish the feat.
With 25 points through 14 games in the month of December, Agostino was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Month. In that span, he was held scoreless just once and registered six multi-point performances. Agostino also closed out the year on Dec. 31 with a five-point performance - the first for an AHL player this season - that included four goals and an assist. He joined Dan Currie, Nigel Dawes and Steve Larouche as the only players in the Wolves' 23-year history to score four goals in one game.
The Wolves will continue regular-season action Saturday (April 1) against the reigning Calder Cup champion Cleveland Monsters at Allstate Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on CW50. The first 5,000 fans will receive a set of Wolves trading cards, courtesy of Vienna Beef.
