Los Angeles Aftershock News Release
The LA Aftershock dug themselves a hole too deep to escape in San Francisco, falling behind by 19 points in the third quarter before rallying to send the game into overtime on a Darwin Carter three point shot as time expired. In overtime, it was Lyryan Russell and his 5 points in overtime that won the game for the Pilots, 92-89 in overtime.
The game featured exceptional play by Jovan Harris early, with 8 first period points. The combined 31 points in the quarter were indicative of sometimes sloppy play, The second period was paced by Darwin Carter who had 7 points to lead LA. Harris added 6 points to give the Pilots a 42-36 lead at the break.
The third quarter was the Kevin Butler and Darwin Carter show as they went basket for basket until Butler hit a three point buzzer beater. The final quarter was all about Aftershock defense and they held San Francisco to one field goal for the first 10 minutes of the quarter. The trip of Carter, Ramel Lloyd and Nick Sheppard combined for 26 points in the period to make the game close, but it was their defense that held the Pilots to two baskets from the field. In the overtime, Russell hit a huge three pointer to give San Francisco the lead for good as the Pilots improved to 5-1. The Aftershock fell to 4-3. Harris led the Pilots with 23 points while Russell finished with 17. Carter led Los Angeles with 26, while Sheppard and Lloyd added 15 each.
The Aftershock travel to Las Vegas to take on the Rattlers at 7pm Saturday. The game can be heard at www.laaftershock.com.
