Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, MI- The Muskegon Lumberjacks completed the USHL draft Tuesday, selecting 21 players to round out their 45-man roster heading into main camp that begins May 24.

After a Phase I draft that "won the draft", according to Neutral Zone, GM John Vanbiesbrouck bolstered his roster with a combination of USHL-ready players and prospects in the 23-round Phase II draft.

After Muskegon traded their first and second-round picks to acquire Emilio Pettersen, Wyatt Bongiovanni, Monte Graham and others for the 2017-18 season, two third round picks led the way in forwards Tyler Watkins and Brock Bremer.

"A lot of exciting players coming in that I look forward to working with," said assistant coach Josh Nelson, who works with the defensemen. "Our mobility on the back-end was boosted, and we were able to add size as well."

"Between both draft phases, we were able to acquire high-end, local and international players who will impact our organization this season and for years to come," said Rod Braceful, Lumberjacks Director of Hockey Operations.

The Lumberjacks drafted 14 forwards, four defensemen and three goaltenders. All will be invited to the Lumberjacks' main camp, joining Muskegon's returning players.
