AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

AFL to brand charitable efforts

February 18, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK - The Arena Football League is placing a renewed emphasis on its charitable efforts in 2008 and in traditional AFL spirit will allow its fans to name its charitable arm.

Branding all elements under one AFL charitable umbrella -- community relations, fundraising and youth football -- will provide a greater impact for those who will benefit from all efforts.

Voting will be conducted on www.arenafootball.com from Monday, February 18 to Friday, February 22. The winning name will be released shortly after voting concludes. The five finalists are:

- AFL Gives

- AFL Impact

- AFL Scores

- Beyond the Boards

- Mission AFL: (i.e. Mission AFL: Youth Football or Mission AFL: Fundraising)

The 2007 season was the most rewarding in AFL history for league-wide community service. In addition to the countless efforts of AFL teams and players, the League worked with high-profile organizations such as the Children's Miracle Network, KaBOOM! and GARTH BROOKS' Teammates for Kids Foundation.

Colorado Crush quarterback JOHN DUTTON won the Al Lucas Hero Award, given annually to the AFL's man of the year, for his charitable contributions, which included the establishment of an orphanage in Africa and the adoption by John and his wife of an 11-year old African boy named MIKI.
