Aeros name O'Donnell Director of Broadcasting

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League announced today that Joe O'Donnell has accepted the team's broadcasting position for the 2008-09 season.

O'Donnell, 28, joins the Aeros having served in the same capacity with the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads for the past three seasons. Prior to that, the Havertown, Pennsylvania native served as a broadcasting assistant for the ECHL's Reading Royals for two seasons.

"We are thrilled to have Joe join the Aeros family," said Courtney Eidman, Vice President of Marketing and Communications. "He brings a wealth of experience in television and radio and we look forward to his exciting brand of broadcasting for Houston Aeros games."

O'Donnell received the 2007 ECHL National Conference Broadcaster of the Year and also served as the television broadcaster for the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 2002 and served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Blue Hens for two seasons.

"I'm really excited to be joining a first-class AHL organization and I'm looking forward to conveying my passion for the game to the Aeros' fans this season," said O'Donnell. "This is a great opportunity for me and I can't wait for the season opener on October 11."
