Aeros at First Colony for charity January 27

January 20, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON, Texas - Aeros players Mike Smith, Derek Boogaard, Brent Burns and Marius Holtet (players subject to change) will be at the First Colony Foley's in Sugar Land from 6-7 p.m. next Thursday, Jan. 27. Fans can get an autograph by purchasing "Raisin", a black lab stuffed animal, for $20 to benefit Bo's Place, a local charity which helps grieving children and their families.

Bo's Place is named in memory of Laurence Bosworth Neuhaus, Jr. Bo died of liver cancer in 1985 when he was twelve years old. Bo's faith, humor and openness were strength to his family. "If I should die any time soon," he wrote, "I want balloons, a lot of helium balloons, and fireworks because I want it to be a celebration. God would want it that way and therefore, so do I."

Bo left behind a legacy of warmth and love. He also left behind a family who mourned their loss with both a celebration of balloons and tears. Through their experience, Bo and his family exemplify the spirit of hope, healing and growth, which was an inspiration in the development of a program in Houston for grieving children and their families.

Raisin was created to grant Bo Neuhaus his wish to have a black lab puppy. Sadly, he was not able to have one before he passed away. This year's second edition Raisin will help Bo's Place carry on the spirit of hope and healing that Bo represented. Funds raised from the Raisin campaign will go towards Bo's Place new building located at Buffalo Speedway and West Bellfort. The organization will move to it's new 18,000 square foot home in May 2005.

Fans can also get the dogs at the Aeros February 4 and 5 games. For a $20 donation to Houston Aeros Charities at either one of those games, "Raisin" can be yours. Chuck a Puck proceeds will also go to Bo's Place on February 4-5.
