Aeros Advance to Eastern League Finals

Akron, OH -- With their 8-0 shutout of the Altoona Curve on Saturday night, the Akron Aeros qualified for the Eastern League Championship Series for the first time since 1993. The Indians Double A franchise has never won an Eastern League title, losing three games to two in both the 1992 and 1993 Championship Series.
The Aeros defeated the Curve three games to one to earn the Eastern League Southern Division title. Akron's opponent in the finals will be the New Haven Ravens (Toronto Blue Jays), who defeated the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) three games to two and clinched the Northern Division title with a 2-1 win at New Haven on Sunday afternoon.
For travel purposes, the Eastern League has added an off-day to the schedule for the 2003 Eastern League Championship Series on Thursday, September 11. The series begins tomorrow, Tuesday, September 9 in New Haven, CT. The complete schedule for the best-of-five Eastern League Championship Series is:
