Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Playing in his first game for the Admirals and in North America, Patrick Cehlin scored a pair of third period goals to help the Admirals to a come-from-behind victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday night in Grand Rapids in the season o pener.

Cehlin scored both of the goals from the left circle, with the first coming off of a rebound of a Jon Blum shot at 3:28 of the third to tie the score at 2. Then just 4:06 later he took a beautiful cross on pass from Taylor Beck to give the Admirals a lead they would not relinquish.

Nashville's fifth round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Cehlin has played the past four seasons with Stockholm of the Swedish Elite League. In 2011-12 he totaled 14 points (10g-4a) and 20 penalty minutes in 48 games.

GRAND OPENING... The Admirals comeback victory on Friday night in Grand Rapids marked the fifth consecutive season that they have picked up a win on opening night. The Ads have spoiled their opponents opener in four of the five contests, and they have combined to allow just eight goals in those games as well. The last time Milwaukee fell on opening night was in 2007 when they dropped a 4-2 decision to Peoria.

TAKING THE REINS... The team's win on Friday night was also the debut for new Admirals Head Coach Dean Evason. An assistant with the Capitals for the past seven seasons, Evason became the third straight Ads coach and ninth of the past 10 to win in their inaugural game as the team's bench boss. The only coach to lose his first game of the past ten was Lane Lambert, who was behind the bench in that loss to Peoria in 2007.

ITS MUELLER TIME..Admirals center Chris Mueller scored the team's first goal of the season on a breakaway with just 43 seconds left in the second period on Friday night. It was the 70th tally of his career as an Admiral, which is third best in team AHL history. Last season the Michigan State alum became just the third Admiral since the team joined the AHL to top the 30 goal plateau as he finished the season with 32. O CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN...Admirals coach Dean Evason has named defenseman Mike Moore as team captain for 2012-13. Moore signed with the Predators in the off-season after spending the past four years in the San Jose organization, posting 20 points and 85 penalty minutes in 62 games with Worcester in 2011-12. The Calgary, AB native is no stranger to the captaincy, having served in that role for Worcester in 2010-11 and Princeton University during his senior season of 2007-08. In addition, Chris Mueller and Mark Van Guilder will serve as alternate captains for the season.
