NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announced today that the American Hockey League (NHL) club has appointed Jack Eikenbary as the team's next Director of Communications. Eikenbary formerly served as Norfolk's Communications Coordinator during the last two months of the Admirals' 2013-14 season.

Eikenbary, 22, completed his undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech as a member of the Class of 2013 after receiving a bachelor's degree in Communication. He is a Virginia Beach native and graduated from Floyd E. Kellam High School in Virginia Beach in 2009.

During the 2013-14 season, Eikenbary began as a Media Relations Intern before eventually moving into the Communications Coordinator role in early March. Following his experience of more than two months in that capacity, he accepted the new title as director in early July.

"Few people my age are afforded an opportunity like this to begin their career in sports. That, along with my experience with Admirals' staff, players, coaches and some of the best fans the AHL has to offer, made this decision very easy for me."

Jack is the primary contact for media requests and handles all of the Admirals' public correspondence. He also manages Norfolk's website content and social media efforts as well as the Admirals' souvenir game program among other responsibilities.

Following their run into the second round of 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs, the Admirals return to Norfolk Scope on Saturday, October 11, to begin the 2014-15 regular season home schedule. Season tickets are available now and can be purchased by calling 757-640-1212.
