
Admirals Power Past Stars With 5-1 Win

Milwaukee, WI - The Texas Stars (28-14-3-4, 63 points) were defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (28-17-1-5, 62 points) 5-1 on Tuesday night in front of 2,737 fans at the Bradley Center. The Admirals scored three power-play goals and ended the Stars five-game winning streak and eight game points streak. Rookie center Colin Wilson scored a goal and set up two others as Milwaukee pulled within a point of the first place Stars in the West Division. Milwaukee goalie Chet Pickard (13-8-2) stopped 27 Texas shots for the win. Texas goalie Todd Ford (4-1-1) suffered his first regulation loss with the Stars, making 28 saves. The Stars begin a five-game home stand at Cedar Park Center starting on Friday at 7:30 pm with the Peoria Rivermen.
After a scoreless first period of play, the Admirals registered a pair of power-play goals and an even strength score to take a 3-0 lead. Milwaukee defenseman Alexander Sulzer ripped a one-timer past Texas goalie Todd Ford for his fourth goal of the year. The power-play tally gave the Admirals a 1-0 lead. Milwaukee doubled the lead at 13:59 when Nick Spaling scored his second goal of the year, lifting a backhand shot into the Texas net for the 2-0 lead and the second power-play goal of the night. The Admirals made it 3-0 at 17:35, as Mike Santorelli scored his team leading 16th goal of the year off a rebound in front of the Texas net.
In the third period, Texas ended Chet Pickard's shutout bid. Center Aaron Gagnon put in a backhand rebound for the Stars at 9:23, trimming the Milwaukee lead to 3-1. Defenseman Garrett Stafford and forward Ray Sawada assisted on Gagnon's 11th goal of the year. Milwaukee pushed the lead to 4-1 when Colin Wilson netted a power-play goal at 13:06 of the third period. With 2:18 to go in the game, Milwaukee forward Tristen Grant scored his eighth goal of the year for the 5-1 final.
The Stars return to Cedar Park Center for back-to-back games against the Peoria on Friday, February 5th at 7:30 PM and on Saturday, February 6th, at 7:00 PM. On Friday, the first 3,000 fans receive a Texas Stars T-Shirt. On Friday, Cedar Park Center will sell $2.00 domestic drafts and $1.00 hot dogs. During Saturday's game, the first 3,000 fans will receive Texas Stars pennant. Fans may purchase the State Farm Family four-pack (four tickets, four sodas and four hot dogs for $44).
