Admirals Fall to Peoria 4-0
March 7, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- Some days you have it, and some days you don't. On Saturday night against the Peoria Rivermen the Admirals had it, scoring five power-play goals in a 6-4 win. Tuesday versus the same Peoria squad, the Admirals didn't have it, going 0-for-8 with a man-advantage in a 4-0 loss to the Rivermen.
In spite of being on the power-play for most of the first period, including over three minutes of five-on-three action, and outshooting Peoria 13-6, the Admirals found themselves down 1-0 after 20 minutes. The Rivermen's Ryan Ramsey sent a pass across the crease that deflected off of Milwaukee defensemen Sheldon Brookbank's skate and into the back of the Ads' net.
The Admirals thought they had tied the score later in the first when Darren Haydar lifted a backhand past Peoria netminder Rienhard Divis, but the goal was disallowed by referee Scott Hoberg because an Admiral was in the crease.
In the second period the Admirals fell victim to a little bad luck when Brendan Buckley chipped the puck into the Milwaukee zone and it took a bad bounce and went through Finley's legs and in the goal. Gavin Morgan made it 3-0 when he scored at 16:26 of the second.
Peoria got their final goal of the night by Blake Evans on assists by Charles Linglet and Reed Low at 11:15 of the third
The game was the sixth time this season that the Admirals have been shutout, and their fifth blanking at the Bradley Center.
The Admirals continue their five game homestand this Friday night at 7:00 pm versus the Cleveland Barons. The first 3,500 fans will receive a bobble-head doll of Milwaukee Brewers pitcher and Admirals investor Ben Sheets, courtesy of M&I Bank.
