Alexandria Aces News Release
Alexandria, LA May 15, 2002
The Alexandria Aces of the Central Professional Baseball League announced today the signing of right-handed pitchers Chad Johnson and Chad Massengale.
Johnson, a native of San Antonio, TX, made the ballclub after attending the Aces 2002 try-out camp on May 4. The graduate of Fresno City (CA) College impressed Field Manager John O'Brien from his cam and Spring Training performance that he is expected to be in the Aces starting rotation to begin the year.
Massengale, a graduate of Southwest Texas State University, joins the Aces pitching staff and reunites with his former college teammate Manny Olivera. Massengale tried out for the team after Olivera recommended him to O'Brien. He will pitch out of the bullpen to start the season.
To create room on the roster the Aces have put outfielder Mike Dean on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.
The Aces 2002 Opening Day Roster is posted on the web site.
