Aces Sign Two More Forwards, 3 Others on Tryouts

ANCHORAGE, AK- The Alaska Aces are pleased to announce the signings of Dylan Hood and Dean Chelios to contracts for the upcoming ECHL season.

Head coach Rob Murray made the announcement Thursday.

The 25 year old Hood, a native of Osoyoos, BC, Canada, comes to Alaska with 3 years of ECHL experience under his belt. He started his professional career in 2012 with the Colorado Eagles. The 5' 9" 185 pound center also skated parts of two seasons with Ontario. Last season he started with the Reign, then played with Missouri before finishing with Wichita.

"Dylan is a fast, dangerous offensive threat," said Murray. "He has an excellent pedigree coming out of Canadian juniors, and has an opportunity to make an impact with us."

The 26 year old Chelios, a native of Bloomfield Hills, MI, returns to Alaska after finishing last season with the Aces. After playing 4 seasons of collegiate hockey at Michigan State, the 6' 190 pound forward got his ECHL feet wet with 8 games for Toledo. Chelios began last season with the Indy Fuel, then joined the Aces for 13 games, scoring 1 goal and 10 assists.

The Aces also have three players coming to training camp on a tryout basis.

Rookie forward Hayden Trupp played 3 seasons of college hockey at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is the brother of former Aces forward Evan Trupp.

Forward Steve Mele split last season between the Tulsa Oilers and Kalamazoo Wings. Steve's brother Tom played two seasons with the Aces.

Jeff Barney will also be in camp on a tryout. He has served as an emergency goaltender for several seasons for the Glacier Blue.

Tickets for exhibition games against the Missouri Mavericks are on sale now! Stop by the Alaska Aces office at 724 East 15th Avenue between 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday, or the Sullivan Arena box office to secure yours!

Exhibition games October 12-13 are general admission at $15...season-ticket holders $10.

The 2015-16 regular-season opener is Friday, October 16. Season and group tickets are on sale now...single-game tickets are also now on sale.
