Alexandria Aces News Release

The Alexandria Aces, in need of healthy bodies, signed rookie third baseman Adam Thompson Monday afternoon. A strapping right-handed hitter, Thompson started the season with the Cananea Mineros of the Arizona-Mexico League. In the time the league was in operation Thompson hit .395 with four home runs and eight stolen bases in 15 games.

Thompson, who can also play catcher, took the roster spot of shortstop Kip Harkrider. The Aces placed Harkrider on the inactive list last week after he re-strained his hamstring. Harkrider must remain on the inactive list for 30 days, but could see action again this season if his injury heals.

The Aces are preparing to host the Shreveport Sports in a three-game series starting Friday. Aces Towels will be given away Friday and Mini-Bats will be given away prior to Saturday's game.

The Central Baseball League plays a 96-game schedule between May and August 2003.

The 10-member league has teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen), San Angelo, Robstown and Ft. Worth, Texas; Alexandria and Shreveport, La.; Springfield/Ozark, Mo.; and Jackson, Miss.
