Alexandria Aces News Release
Alexandria, LA; June 3, 2006 - The Alexandria Aces of United League Baseball (ULB) announced Saturday they have signed lefthanded pitcher Adam Cox. To make room for Cox, the Aces released lefthander Brad Turney.
The 6-foot-4 Cox, who pitched in each of the last two seasons with the Jackson Senators of the Central Baseball League, was a fourth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Indians in 2000. He pitched with Burlington in 2000 and Columbus (Ga.) in 2002. The Thomasville, Georgia resident was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in four starts with Jackson last year.
Turney, a rookie from New Mexico State, was signed by the Aces out of their local tryout camp May 7. He appeared in six games and threw eight innings, allowing eight earned runs on 15 hits.
The Aces finish a six-game homestand tonight at 7:05 p.m. and tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings.
