Alexandria Aces News Release

Players report to Bringhurst Field in less than one week, and Alexandria Aces manager RC Lichtenstein is one step closer to a complete roster after signing two more players.

Left-handed hitting first baseman Brian Schmitt will lend versatility to the Aces lineup with power, speed and the ability to play the outfield. Over the last three seasons he averaged 23 doubles and eight home runs with a career-high 13 stolen bases during the 2000 season. Schmitt is a .264 career hitter over four seasons.

David Hawk, a left-handed pitcher, is a former minor league Rule-5 draft pick of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He compiled a 4-7 record last season with the Charleston Riverdogs, splitting time between the starting rotation and the bullpen.
