Brooklyn Aces News Release

Tonight at the Aviator Arena in Brooklyn, NY, the Brooklyn Aces showed why they rank 1st in the EPHL in both power play and penalty killing efficiency. On the night, Brooklyn scored 3 power play goals and killed 20 minutes in penalties, including a 5-minute major and 5-on-3 in the second period, and for the second game in a row, the Aces had a forward record a hat trick. Jesse Felten followed his 2-goal effort on Thursday night, by scoring 3 more on Friday. As usual the Aces got on the board first when Felten settled in the slot and wristed a BJ Kuper pass past goalie Nick Niedert. After Jersey's Anthony Becker scored midway through the first period, the game went into the second period tied 1-1. Brooklyn's special teams then went into full-force as Thursday's star Mike Thomson, scored a power play goal to give the Aces the lead and they never looked back.

After BJ Kuper got a 5-minute major for boarding, Brooklyn's penalty kill showed its stuff, and their best penalty killer was in the net. Miroslav Recicar stopped 36-of-37 Rockhoppers' shot attempts on the night, and remained undefeated, picking up his 11th victory of the season. With Brooklyn leading 2-1 heading into the third period, Felten took the Aces on his shoulders by scoring twice in the third period, and raising the physicality of the game with checks on both ends of the ice.
