October 17, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

Brian Swanson's two-goal effort was not enough for the Alaska Aces on Saturday night, as they suffered their first loss of the season 5-2 to the Utah Grizzlies. Brad Snetsinger had two goals and two assists to lead the Grizzlies. The Aces fell to 1-1 on the season, and will host the Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday Night at the Sullivan Arena. For the second night in a row, the Aces dominated the first period, outshooting the Grizzlies 18-5. Brian Swanson scored at 8:21 to give the Aces a 1-0 lead. However, the Aces could not get another past J.P. Lamoureux in the frame, and the Grizzlies eventually answered. Hugo Carpentier scored on a power play at 15:28 to even the score, and close the first period.

In the second, Utah had two quick strikes to take the lead. Carpentier got his second of the night at 3:34, and then David Schultz scored from the high slot 74 seconds later to make it 3-1 Grizzlies. Swanson tallied his second of the game on a rebound at 13:43 to get the Aces back within a goal, but Utah took the one-goal lead into the final period. Utah outshot Alaska 13-10 in the period.

The Aces nearly tied the game in the third period, but Lamoureux stood strong, including two point-blank, highlight reel saves on Wes Goldie. Brad Snetsinger put the Grizzlies up by a pair with a shorthanded goal on a two-on-one rush at 15:54. He then capped the scoring on a power play, empty-net goal at 18:56.

Gerald Coleman (1-1) took the loss, making 16 of 20 saves, and J.P. Lamoureux (1-0-1) earned the win 34 saves on 36 shots. The Aces power play went 0-6, while the Grizzlies went 2-5. Alaska outshot Utah 36-21 in the game.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena on Friday and Saturday night to host the Idaho Steelheads at 7:15pm. On Saturday, the team will wear tie-dye jerseys that will be auctioned off to fans at the game. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.alaskaaces.com.
