TACOMA, Wash. - The Reno Aces topped the Tacoma Rainiers tonight 6-4, taking four of six from Tacoma and finishing the 12-game road trip with seven wins. Drew Ellis led the way for Reno, homering in his second-straight game.
Ellis made loud contact to get the scoring started in the third, crushing a three-run homer to give Reno the early lead. The homer was his second in as many games, and gave him the team lead with nine long balls on the season. The three RBIs extended his team lead in that category too, putting him at 39 on the season.
Juniel Querecuto followed it up with his own home run the next inning, making it 4-0 Reno with a solo shot. The long ball marked his fifth of the season, good for fourth on the team.
Querecuto would keep the good day going, driving in Jamie Ritchie with an RBI single in the sixth to make it 5-0 Aces. Querecuto's second RBI of the day moved him out of a three-way tie and into sole possession of third on the team with 25.
Tacoma added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut it to 5-2, but Reno would quickly answer.
In the top of the seventh, Jake McCarthy smacked just his second career home run in Triple-A to make it 6-2. The prospect now sports two homers and six RBIs in his 11 games with Reno so far this season.
