Aces Draft Five

March 10, 2003 - Central Baseball League (Central League)
Alexandria Aces News Release

Alexandria Aces manager R.C. Lichtenstein took full advantage of a deep talent pool, drafting five players at the Central Baseball League's spring tryout camp last week.

Lichtenstein added pitchers Torik Harrison and Scott Myers, infielders Tony Palazzolo and Jake Dillard and outfielder John Tadlock to a roster that already includes 11 players.

Harrison, a second-year rookie, pitched last season for the Baton Rouge River Bats of the Southeastern League. He spent the season's first half as the team's closer before moving into the starting rotation for a short stint.

The left-handed throwing Myers is the career leader in victories and games pitched for the University of Dallas. He tallied 30 wins in 54 trips to the mound for the NCAA Division III school.

Palazzolo hit .434 as a junior first baseman in 2002 at Houston Baptist University. He also played in the JUCO World Series while with San Jacinto Junior College.

Dillard, a 5-foot-8 second baseman, stole 47 bases during his junior and senior seasons with Southwestern Oklahoma State. He hit .371 as a senior, receiving 18 bases on balls and being hit by a pitch another 18 times.

Tadlock has not played since his freshman season [1998] at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.

All five players will compete for a roster spot starting April 27th, during the Aces spring training workouts.

The Central Baseball League, preparing for its 10th season of independent baseball, will play a 96-game schedule between May and August 2003.

The 10-member league has teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen), San Angelo, Robstown and Ft. Worth, Texas; Alexandria and Shreveport, La.; Springfield/Ozark, Mo.; and Jackson, Miss.
