Aberdeen Wings News Release
Weekend Recap
Your Aberdeen Wings battled more then just the winter storm this past weekend as they fell twice. Friday night the Wings battled the Blizzard on and off the ice as weather conditions made the trip to Brookings interesting. The Wings came out strong on the ice vs. the Blizzard their new in state rivals. Both teams played a very physical game and the game could have gone either way with a bounce of the puck. The Wings however ended up on the short end of a 2-0 score. Saturday the Wings were back at home to take on Minot. Minutes into the 2nd period the Wings found themselves trailing 2-0 when Justin Parizek was able to beat the Minot goaltender to get the Wings back on track. Assisting Parizek was Peter Krieger. Minot scored the next goal and regained their 2 goal lead about a minute later. After that the Wings top line answered with 2 quick goals, the first coming from Peter Krieger from the top of the circle with the assists going to Justin Parizek and Jon Grebosky. Then Justin Parizek tied things up seconds later with Joe Sullivan and Peter Krieger getting the assists. No scoring occurred in the 3rd period or overtime so we went to a shootout. The Wings were unable to beat Parks and Minot scored twice to end the game. With the game going into overtime the Wings did receive a point in the standings and are now alone in 5th.
