Aberdeen Wings News Release

The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League have relieved head coach and general manager Pete Sauer of his duties effective immediately.

Wings ownership met today and they came to the conclusion that in the best interest of the team, a major change was needed. The Wings have lost 4 straight and have slipped into last place in the Central Division.

Pete Sauer has been head coach and GM with the Wings since they started play in the NAHL as an expansion team in 2010. Assistant coach Garrett Strot will serve as the interim head coach till the end of the 2012-13 season. At that time a decision will be made on who will coach the Wings for 2013-2014 season.

The Wings organization's goal is to put a fast, hard-hitting team on the ice that our great fans deserve! We expect that our new training facility with locker room which will be ready for next season will help our boys become the best hockey players they can be.
