Greenville, S.C. - The Ironbirds plated 11 runs, including four in the first and three in the sixth, on 12 hits and three homers to win game five, 11-3, Saturday night at Fluor Field.

The Drive registered 10 hits but hit into two double plays and left five on base. Kole Cottam tallied a season-high three hits, all singles. Wil Dalton drove in two runs on a 2-for-4 night with a double. Nick Sogard also collected two hits on the night.

Chris Murphy took the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits and three homers over 5.0 innings. He fanned seven.

Garrett Stallings earned the win. He tossed 5.0 innings of one run ball, zero earned, on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Aberdeen jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning behind a solo homer by Jordan Westburg and three-run homer by Zach Watson.

The Ironbirds added to their lead, 5-0, in the following frame on a Westburg RBI double.

In the following inning, the away team tacked on one more to their advantage, 6-0, on an Andrew Daschbach solo clout.

Greenville cut into the deficit in the fifth inning. Elih Marrero singled to left field with one out. He advanced to second on a groundball. With Cannon at the plate, Marrero stole third and then scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

However, Aberdeen plated three more runs in the sixth on two-run double by Maverick Handley and RBI single by Adam Hall to take a 9-1 lead.

The Drive scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs, Dearden and Cottam hit back-to-back singles. Dalton then ripped a pitch off the Green Monster for a two-run double, making the score 9-3.

Two innings later, in the eighth, the Ironbirds scored another two runs on a Handley RBI single and Westburg RBI bases-loaded walk.

Game six is scheduled for 3:05 Sunday at Fluor Field. The Drive are set to throw Chase Shugart while the Ironbirds are slated to start Kevin Magee.
