June 21, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Big Valley Shockwave News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Big Valley Shockwave will begin play in November in the Stockton-Modesto area. According to Joe Newman, "It was just a matter of finalizing the venue. Once done, this group was ready to go. The Stockton-Modesto area is perfect and their choice of venues, the California State University Gym, Stanislaus located in Turlock CA, a suburb of Modesto will be terrific."
The team will be owned by Champion Sports Management, Inc., (CSM) with Kenny Trader, Jr. as its President. Kenny is a professional and former college basketball player who has made the transition from the court to the front office. He is co-owner and President of CSM and will also serve as head coach of the Shockwaves.
Trader has a very extensive background in basketball and "is delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit his expertise in a game to which he has devoted his entire life." He is very excited to be a part of the Modesto-Stockton Communities and looks forward to working with the various civic and private organizations to make this new team a success.
A four year letterman in collegiate men's basketball, a former junior-college all-star, he has coached in several basketball camps including the University of Maryland's Gary Williams Basketball Camp for Kids in College Park, MD; the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camp for Kids in Trenton, NJ and others.
In 2005, Kenny formed Kenny Trader Enterprises, LLC, a limited liability company specializing in sports management, basketball camps and clinics for kids, physical training and health/nutrition. He has an associate's degree from Mississippi Delta Community College and expects to be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bowie State University next year.
The co-owner of the team is William G. Davidson III, a Davidson, Maryland attorney. For more information, call 301 741 9128 or email kenny_trader@yahoo.com or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
