CARY, N.C. - Carolina RailHawks forward Aaron King has been loaned to the USL Second Division's Wilmington Hammerheads.

"I think it's a good opportunity for Aaron to get playing and hopefully score some goals," said Carolina coach Martin Rennie. "As a striker you need to score to build confidence, and by getting a few games he'll get more chances to do that. He'll come back and I expect he'll be a big part of the team."

King will join the Hammerheads for their USL-2 season opener in Charlotte on Saturday, and he will remain with them until May 30. King expects to see ample playing time with the Hammerheads, who will play seven matches during the term of the loan.

"I'm going to try and put myself in the best position to score as many goals as I can and get that confidence flying. That's probably the biggest thing as a forward, to have that confidence in front of the goal," King said. "I'm just looking at it as an experience to score as many goals as I can, come back and do it for the RailHawks."

King joined the RailHawks in the offseason after he had six goals and two assists in 28 appearances for Charleston in 2008. He had not played in either of Carolina's first two matches this season, but he did start for the RailHawks on April 14, when they met the Hammerheads in Wilmington in an intra-divisional friendly.

"We're short on forwards at the moment and the opportunity happened and I jumped at it," said Wilmington coach David Irving. "I think it's a great opportunity, a win-win for the RailHawks and the Hammerheads."

The RailHawks return to action on Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. as they host the Minnesota Thunder. Tickets ($10, $15 and $20) are available at the LGFCU Box Office by calling 919-859-KICK (5425) or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
