\'Three Amigos\' Lead Bucks Over Austin, 7-3

LAREDO, Texas – For a while this season it was forwards Jeff Bes and Brent Cullaton forming the dynamic duo for Laredo, but after last night it became the ‘Three Amigos' when Chris Grenville joined the party as the Bucks hammered the Austin Ice Bats 7-3 at the Laredo Entertainment Center in front of 5,811. Bes and Cullaton each had a pair of goals while Cullaton chipped in with a goal and four assists. The Bucks are 27-5-2 with a CHL and Southeast division leading 56 points. The Bucks have won three straight and recorded points in 18 of the last 20 games. The Bucks are on the road at Rio Grande Valley this Friday night against the Killer Bees. Laredo returns home this Saturday night against the Corpus Christi Rayz. The Bucks came out firing early and often. Forward Brent Cullaton came down the left wing and slipped a pass to the slot that forward Chris Grenville wristed into the net at 3:55. Grenville has now scored a goal in seven of the last eight games. A little over five minutes later Grenville returned the favor as he fed Cullaton in front of the net for his 22nd of the year at 9:02. Cullaton has points in nine straight games and in 21 of the last 22. The Bucks continued their assault as forward Steve Simoes cut in behind the net and then centered to forward Jason Spence for a tap in goal at 14:41. The Ice Bats answered as forward Kelly Smart threaded a beautiful pass ahead to forward Tab Lardner who scored at 16:05.

In the second period the Bucks really dropped the hammer. Grenville scored his second of the night and 20th of the year just 50 seconds in to make it 4-1 and Laredo was just getting started. A little over halfway thru the period Cullaton fired a gorgeous slap pass back door that Bes tipped into the net for a power play goal at 10:07 to make it 5-1. Just under three minutes later defenseman Serge Dube blasted a slap shot from the high point for another power play goal at 13:05. It was Dube's seventh of the season. Less than a minute later it was Bes jamming home his second of the night on the rebound of a Grenville shot at 13:59 to give Laredo a 7-1 lead. Bes now has 19 goals on the year and points in nine straight games.

In the third period the Ice Bats picked up a couple of goals as Brent Hughes at 15:02 and Mike Olynyk at 17:30 completed the scoring. FINAL SCORE Laredo 7, Austin 3.

Bucks goalie Marco Emond stopped 16 of 19 shots to improve to 15-2-2. Austin goalie Shawn Conschafter was pounded in net allowing seven goals on 45 shots to drop to 6-5-0. The Bucks, ranked number one in the CHL on the power play, went 3-7 on the man advantage. Austin was 0-1 on the power play.

BUCKS WEEKLY TO DEBUT ON AM 1490 KLNT

The Laredo Bucks and Amigo Broadcasting are proud to announce that Bucks Weekly will debut on the airwaves this Monday night on Laredo News Talk AM 1490 KLNT at 6 p.m. The hour long radio program will allow the fans an opportunity to learn more about the Bucks. Amigo Broadcasting Operations Manager and Program Director Ruben Villarreal will host the program and Bucks broadcaster Joe Dominey will assist with the show. The program will feature game recaps, upcoming game analysis, interviews, rule explanations and more. Every Monday night at 6 p.m. on Laredo News Talk AM 1490 KLNT beginning this coming Monday night.
