West Texas Roughnecks News Release
ODESSA, TX. As fate would have it the Odessa Roughnecks aren't savoring this past weekends win as much as you would think. The San Angelo Stampede forfeited last Saturday's game to the disappointment of the Roughnecks. "We were confident of this being a win for us, we were ready mentally and physically to defeat the Stampede. We did not want to leave their field without a full-blown Stampede slaughter, but they made their choice," stated Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams. The decision was made by Stampede Head Coach Dean Cokinos who has now been suspended permanently by the IFL.
As the Roughnecks continue to heal we will see Blakely back in the game this weekend after recovering form an elbow injury, Wallace is also coming back after a long bout with pneumonia. Favorite Joel Babb has started practicing again and will be back for the Aug 14th game.
Cory Taylor, FB/LB, has been released from the Roughnecks roster and there are possibilities of additions happening this week.
This Saturday, August 7th the Roughnecks will face the Corpus Christi Hammerheads with both teams working hard to secure a place in the Playoffs. This game is Birth Night with women 8 months or more pregnant taking their turn to enjoy a Roughnecks game. The first mom-to-be to give birth after kickoff will receive a year supply of free diapers and much more.
