Los Angeles Avengers News Release

LOS ANGELES -- Four members of the Los Angeles Avengers' award-winning dance squad, known as the "A-Team," will be in Fort Hood, Texas, this weekend visiting troops at the largest active duty armed post in the United States Armed Services.

The four "A-Team" dancers -- Cristal, Kim, Michelle and Winter -- will arrive on Friday, April 25, and return to California on Sunday, April 27.

Following the conclusion of the previous two seasons (2001 and 2002), the "A-Team" earned the Arena Football League's "Best Dance Team" award and is considered one of the best squads in all of professional sports. Under the guidance of artistic director Denise Marie Jerome, the "A-Team" features 19 of Los Angeles' finest dancers.

Fort Hood, which is located in Central Texas, 60 miles north of Austin, covers a total of 339-square miles and is the only post in the United States that supports two full armored divisions. In addition to the 1st Cavalry Division and the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Hood is also residence for the 13th Corps Support Command, the Headquarters Command III Corps, the 3rd Signal Brigade and various other units and tenant organizations.

On Friday, the "A-Team" will visit soldiers at their work areas, view Apache and Blackhawk helicopters and mingle at the Officer Club.

Saturday's activities include visiting more soldiers, in addition to fire stations and hospitals. There also will be an autograph session at the Clear Creek PX and a laser bowling outing at Phantom Lanes.

The Avenger football team will also be in Texas this weekend as they take on the Dallas Desperados on Sunday, April 27, at Reunion Arena in Dallas. The game kicks off at noon (Pacific) and will be televised on NBC.

With four games remaining in the regular season, Los Angeles is 9-3 and has already qualified for the 2003 AFL Playoffs.

The Avengers, who currently occupy the No. 1-seed position for the upcoming playoffs, have only one regular season game remaining at STAPLES Center. That contest on Saturday, May 10, versus the Colorado Crush will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be televised on Fox Sports Net 2.
